New Arrival Processing Overview
Every new arrival to Obsidian Hill follows a carefully designed 10-day integration process. This system balances the critical need for community safety with compassionate treatment of survivors who have endured trauma, hardship, and uncertainty in the wasteland.
The processing center operates from the Dusty Rose Hotel - the original 1881 frontier hotel that once housed miners, gamblers, and traveling salesmen. Its 12 rooms now provide secure quarantine facilities, while the hotel's unique architectural features support both medical observation and gradual community integration.
Our approach prioritizes transparency, dignity, and practical assessment. New arrivals understand exactly what to expect, why each step is necessary, and how they can contribute to our growing community. No one is turned away without cause, but everyone must prove they can be trusted with the lives and safety of 123 people rebuilding civilization in the Nevada desert.

Dusty Rose Hotel Quarantine Facility
The original 1881 hotel above the Gold Nugget Saloon provides ideal quarantine facilities. Room assignments depend on group composition and assessed threat levels. Families stay together when possible. Single arrivals are paired with compatible individuals unless security concerns dictate isolation. The 7-day minimum allows for disease incubation period monitoring and psychological decompression.
